Participants are advised that Maitland, Thursday, November 30 has been abandoned. The decision to abandon came after a review around 9am that identified that insufficient water has been able to penetrate the profile and bind the track.
Track staff have attempted to apply water to bind the profile, however due to weather, wind and the sites water supply being limited due to broken bore, this has not been achieved.
The bore pump blew up on Tuesday, November 28 and while replacements have been ordered and an emergency solution requested, local suppliers have unfortunately not been able to provide. This matter remains the highest priority to have resolved. In the interim staff are currently seeking to continue water to re assess the track this afternoon for trials December 1.
Trials on Friday, December 1 and Monday, December 4, will be cancelled to ensure sufficient water is applied for the race meeting, Thursday, December 7. Club staff are seeking to resolve water issues immediately, but given there has been no assurances from third parties at this point in time, cancellation of trials is being undertaken as a precautionary action.
