MAITLAND GREYHOUNDS

SATURDAY MORNING TRIALS

 

In response to a growing number of trainer requests for weekend trial sessions, Maitland will conduct four Saturday morning trial sessions in February and March 2019 to gauge demand.

 

The trials will be held on:

Saturday, February 2 – 8am start, tickets from 7.30am.

Saturday, February 9 – 8am start, tickets from 7.30am.

Saturday, February 16 – NO TRIALS, CLOSED FOR ANNUAL MAITLAND SHOW

Saturday, February 23 – 8am start, tickets from 7.30am.

Saturday, March 2 – 8am start, tickets from 7.30am.

 

During the Saturday morning trial period Maitland will NOT trial on Monday mornings January 28 (public holiday), February 4, 11, 18 and 25. A decision on whether to continue the Saturday morning trials or return to the Monday morning trials will be made towards the end of February and trainers advised.

 

Trials will still be held after the last race each Thursday and on Friday mornings.

 

The Saturday sessions will start at 8am, with tickets on sale from 7.30am in the catching pen area. Trainers will need to drive onto the trotting track, but not before 7.30am, and park near the catching pen area to purchase their tickets before proceeding to the boxes.

 

Trials will be held in the following order;

565m boxes – maiden, field and solo.

450m boxes – maiden, field and solo.

400m boxes – maiden, field and solo.

300m boxes.

 

Arm trials will also be available from 9.30am and must be booked through the race office on 49337095 before noon on the Friday.

Maitland GBOTA Trials for 2018/2019 daylight saving: (For non-daylight saving periods please add 1 hour to all times)

Public trials over 565m, 450m, 400m and 300m operate from 8am to 9am during daylight saving. Tickets are available from the Maitland GBOTA office from 7.30am. For the safety of track staff all greyhounds MUST wear a muzzle.

Arm trials start at 9.30am and are by appointment only. Bookings can be made on 4933 7095 or at the Maitland GBOTA office.

The kennel block will be open from 7.30am for trainers wanting to weigh their greyhounds and toilet facilities are available in the committee room or next to the bar area.

 

FRIDAY

Public trials over 565m, 450m, 400m and 300m operate from 8am to 9am during daylight saving. Tickets are available from the Maitland GBOTA office from 7.30am. For the safety of track staff all greyhounds MUST wear a muzzle.

Arm trials start at 9.30am and are by appointment only. Bookings can be made on 49337095 or at the Maitland GBOTA office.

THURSDAY

Public trials over 565m, 450m, 400m and 300m are conducted after the last race each Thursday. Tickets for these trials can been booked by calling 49337095 after 8.30am or bought from the Maitland GBOTA office prior to the completion of the last race.

 

No trials Good Friday, Easter Monday, October Long Weekend or Anzac Day (public holidays)

 

ARM TRIALS 

Book through the Maitland GBOTA office on 49337095.

Price: $15 per trial

Trainers not wanting to muzzle their dogs must use their own (synthetic) skin or squeaker, which the starter must first approve. Track staff will attach the skin or squeaker to the arm. Those wanting to use the Maitland GBOTA lure and squeaker must muzzle their greyhound.

 

Prices

Field trials - $6 per greyhound.

Solos - $11
Two greyhounds or more - $6 per greyhound

Arm trials - $15 per trial
